Can I take part fully online?

Yes. The programme is designed as a hybrid format. You can take part online from anywhere or attend classes on campus in Bonn. Online participants are integrated into live sessions, cue work and feedback rounds, with recordings available afterwards.

Is the programme state-recognised?

Yes. We cooperate closely with state-recognised universities. All degrees are fully accredited and internationally recognised (B.Mus. & M.Mus.).

How can I finance my studies?

There are various funding options, e.g., BAföG, student loans, or private scholarship programmes. In the info session, we will gladly advise you individually on your options.

What if I don't pass the Entrance exam?

Don't worry. That's exactly why we developed our study preparation programmes. If the profiling reveals that you still lack fundamentals in music theory or production, you can first complete a preparation year and then start the bachelor's programme.

Can I study online or hybrid?

Yes, we offer maximum flexibility. You can study entirely online or in a hybrid model directly at our campus in Bonn. Both formats fully integrate you into the studies and projects.

Is there individual study counselling?

Yes, absolutely. In addition to our info sessions, we offer you the opportunity for a very personal conversation – in person on site in Bonn or online. Ideal for clarifying detailed questions about your portfolio or your career path.

How big are the groups?

There are typically 4–8 participants. Since participants usually already bring musical or production experience, the group often develops into a focused peer environment where feedback, exchange and professional comparison become an important part of the learning process.

When does the programme start and how long does it last?

The programme starts each year in September and January and runs over three trimesters, roughly one year. In total, you can expect 39 weeks of classes in which you significantly develop your profile in composition and production.

Do I need an advanced film music portfolio before I apply?

No. For the profiling, you send 2–3 musical works that show your current level. These can be film cues, compositions, productions, band projects or solo works. The profiling helps us assess whether your current level fits the advanced programme and which next steps make sense.

Is this programme a good preparation for a Master’s application?

Yes. Advanced Film Scoring and Production is specifically designed as a preparatory programme for Master’s studies in film scoring, media composition and music production. You refine your artistic profile, close technical gaps and build showreel material for admission procedures and professional opportunities.

Is this programme a good preparation for a Bachelor application?

Yes. Media Music Producer is designed as a preparatory programme for Bachelor studies in composition, media music and music production. You build musical and technical foundations, develop portfolio material and prepare for the next step.

When does the programme start and how long does it last?

The Media Music Producer programme starts each year in June and runs over three trimesters, roughly one year. The next start is 17 June 2026.

How big are the groups?

There are typically 4–8 participants. The small group size creates a personal learning environment in which you receive individual feedback and work closely with instructors and fellow participants.

Do I need strong music theory before I apply?

No. You do not need a fully developed theoretical background. The programme is designed to build solid foundations in music theory, ear training, rhythm and harmony while connecting them directly to practical production and composition.

Do I need to pass an entrance exam?

No. There is no traditional entrance exam. Instead, we conduct an approx. two-hour profiling conversation. The aim is to understand your creative potential, assess your current level and clarify whether the programme fits your goals.
