Do I need prior knowledge or a specific qualification?

Yes. To be admitted to the Bachelor program, you need to pass the entrance examination and usually hold a higher education entrance qualification (Abitur or equivalent). If you do not have this qualification, you may still qualify through an aptitude examination. A solid musical foundation is required, and during the admission process we will jointly assess whether your skills and goals are a good fit for our program. If they are not yet at the required level, we recommend first joining the preparatory program “Film Scoring and Production” to systematically develop the necessary skills. This is how we ensure that all students are working at a high enough level to be competitive in the professional field.

How does the Bachelor program support my future career?

This program qualifies you as a composer for film, games, and media, leading to a state-recognised university degree. You work on real-world projects with film schools, game studios, and other media partners. In doing so, you build a professional network, gain practical experience during your studies, and prepare yourself optimally for your future career.

Do I need prior experience in film music or audio engineering?

You don’t have to be a professional to start. Basic knowledge of music – for example an instrumental background – is desired, and some experience in music production is helpful but not strictly required. We meet you where you are and guide you step by step – from the foundations of composition through to more complex production workflows. If your musical level is not yet sufficient, you can acquire it beforehand in the Media Music Producer program.

+

Which software is used in class?

We primarily work with Cubase as a solid production foundation. If you already work at an advanced level with another professional DAW such as Logic Pro, Reaper, or Digital Performer, you can continue using it in the program – we just won’t be able to offer technical support for your specific DAW. In addition, we use professional sample libraries and modern production tools.
