The Best of Both Worlds

We combine a clear didactic structure with plenty of room for your artistic development. Every topic is built step by step: analyse, understand, implement – from the first sketch to the finished production. This is how you confidently translate your creative potential into a professional portfolio.

          Frequently asked questions & answers

Frequently asked questions about our Bachelor’s programme

Do I need prior knowledge or a specific qualification?

          +

Yes. To be admitted to the Bachelor program, you need to pass the entrance examination and usually have a higher education entrance qualification (Abitur or equivalent). If you do not have this qualification, you may still be admitted based on your aptitude exam. A solid musical foundation is required, and during the admission process we carefully assess whether your skills and goals match the program. If they are not yet at the required level, we recommend first joining our preparatory program “Film Scoring and Production” so you can systematically develop the necessary skills. This is how we ensure that all students reach a professional standard that is competitive in the field.

How does the Bachelor program support my future career?

          +

This program qualifies you as a composer for film, games, and media and leads to a state-recognised university degree. You will work on real-world projects with film schools, game studios, and other media partners. In this way, you build a professional network, gain practical experience during your studies, and prepare yourself optimally for your future career.

What are the main areas of focus in the Bachelor program?

          +

The Bachelor program covers three musical focus areas: film music, game music, and pop music. Composition and production are treated equally, with an interdisciplinary, cross-genre approach that allows you to develop a broad and versatile skill set.

What practical projects can I expect?

          +

Each study year includes a major practical project, such as working with a chamber music ensemble, a band, a choir, or producing orchestral recordings with a symphony orchestra. These projects connect theory with practice and offer valuable insights into real-world production workflows.

What networking and cooperation opportunities are available?

          +

You will benefit from our network of renowned institutions such as the International Film School Cologne (IFS), Aachen University of Applied Sciences, and Loyola Marymount University (LMU) in Los Angeles. These connections open the door to exciting collaborative projects and valuable career opportunities.
